Lock it in

Request your dress online or at your try-on. We confirm it's ready for your date and send a Square invoice with your hire contract to sign.

Pick up or post

Collect it from Prestons at your pick-up time, or have it posted to you ($20 standard, $30 express). Your contract needs to be signed and the balance and refundable bond paid first.

Return it

Drop it back in Prestons, or post it back by your return date, with everything it came with. Once it's checked, your bond is refunded.

A boutique wardrobe in Prestons

Natalie's Dress Hire is a collection of more than a hundred gowns from designers like Albina Dyla, Portia & Scarlett, Vlora & Katrina and Terani Couture, plus one-off custom-made pieces you won't see anywhere else.

Every dress is checked and cleaned between hires. Appointments are private, so you can take your time.

Hiring a dress

How long is a hire?

Choose a standard hire of 4 days, or an extended hire of 8 days. You pick this when you request your dress.

What does "Being prepared" mean?

The dress is being cleaned or having small repairs. You can still request it and we'll tell you if it'll be ready for your date.

How does the try-on appointment work?

It's a free, private one-hour appointment at our Prestons boutique. Please bring your heels and any shapewear you plan to wear. If you're coming as a group, let us know so we can allow extra time.

Is there a security bond?

Yes, a refundable security bond is required for every hire. It's refunded once the dress is returned on time and in its original condition, with no damage, stains or missing items.

Do I need to sign a contract?

Yes. Once your dress is confirmed we send your hire contract through Square to your email. You can read and sign it on your phone. It needs to be signed before pick-up.

Can a dress be altered?

We offer alteration appointments to get the best possible fit. Bring the shoes and undergarments you'll wear. Costs depend on the work needed. Please note, dresses that are posted can't be altered.

Postage & returns

Can you post a dress to me?

Yes, most dresses can be posted: $20 standard or $30 express. Some larger gowns are pick-up only, and each dress page shows which.

How do returns work?

Drop the dress back in Prestons at your scheduled return time, or if it was posted to you, use the prepaid return satchel we include and lodge it at a Post Office by your return date. Please include everything that came with it. Late returns may incur extra fees.

Getting your dress posted?

Here's what's different

  • Postage is $20 standard or $30 express. We send it 1–2 days before your event.
  • Posted dresses can't be altered, so check the fit size and label size on the dress page. Not sure? Message us before you request.
  • Some larger gowns are pick-up only. The dress page will show this.
  • Before we post, we'll need a photo of your driver licence emailed to us.
  • We include a prepaid return satchel. Just pop the dress in and lodge it at a Post Office by your return date.

The fine print, made simple

Hire terms

Everything you need to know before you hire. Your signed hire contract is the final word, so if anything here is different, the contract applies.

Hire length

Choose a standard hire of 4 days, or an extended hire of 8 days. Your hire starts on your pick-up or delivery day and ends on the return date in your booking.

Booking & payment

  • Request a dress online or at your try-on. Your hire is only confirmed once we've checked the dress is available and ready for your date.
  • We send you a Square invoice. To hold a dress before your final try-on, we may ask for a deposit of $100–$200.
  • The remaining hire balance and the security bond must be paid, and your hire contract signed, before you pick up the dress or we post it.
  • You're responsible for choosing your size. Every dress lists its fit size and label size. If you're unsure, book a try-on or message us first.

Security bond

  • Every hire needs a refundable security bond. The amount depends on the dress, and we'll tell you when your hire is confirmed.
  • Your bond is paid before collection and refunded once the dress is returned and inspected, as long as it's back on time, in the same condition (allowing for reasonable wear), and all hire terms have been met.
  • We deduct reasonable costs from the bond for damage, excessive cleaning, missing items or late returns.

Caring for your dress

  • Please don't alter, wash, dry clean, dye, pin or repair the dress. We take care of cleaning.
  • Watch out for fake tan, makeup and perfume, as these can stain.
  • If anything gets damaged, tell us straight away.
  • Alterations can only be done by us, at an alteration appointment. Dresses that are posted can't be altered.

Pick-up & postage

  • Pick up from our Prestons boutique at your booked pick-up time. Please bring a valid government-issued photo ID. We securely keep a copy for your hire.
  • Check the dress when you collect it. Any existing imperfections will be pointed out before you take it. If it's posted, check it as soon as it arrives and message us straight away about anything you notice.
  • For posted hires, please email a clear photo of your driver licence to admin@nataliesdresshire.com before we send your dress. It must match the details in your hire contract.
  • Postage is $20 standard or $30 express. We send it 1–2 days before your event to allow for Australia Post delivery times.
  • Every posted dress comes with a prepaid return satchel.
  • Some larger gowns are pick-up only. Each dress page shows this.

Returns

  • Picked up: bring the dress back to Prestons at your booked return time.
  • Posted: pop the dress in the prepaid return satchel and lodge it at a Post Office by your return date. Keep your receipt until your bond is refunded.
  • Return everything that came with the dress.
  • Late returns will result in extra charges, especially if another booking is affected.

Damage & loss

You're responsible for any loss or damage while the dress is with you. This includes tears, broken zips, missing embellishments, burns, stains, fake tan, makeup, perfume damage or any other damage beyond normal wear. If something happens, tell us straight away. Small issues are often easy to fix if we know early.

Changes & cancellations

Need to change your date or cancel? Let us know as soon as possible. Whether your deposit can be refunded or moved to a new date is set out in your hire contract.

Privacy

  • We collect your name, mobile, email, address and event details only to arrange your hire and contact you about it.
  • We check your photo ID at pick-up, or by emailed photo for posted hires. Your licence details are only used to confirm your identity and manage your hire. ID photos are deleted once your dress is returned and your bond is refunded.
  • If you join the Wardrobe List, we'll email you about new arrivals, sale dresses and offers. You can unsubscribe any time using the link in every email.
  • We never sell or share your details with anyone else, except where needed to deliver your dress (for example, Australia Post).
  • To see, update or delete your details, email admin@nataliesdresshire.com.
